from an early age I was fascinated by the instrument "voice", maybe because of its close connection to body, mind and soul. I am thrilled by the individual possibilities of expression from powerful to fragile and the unique sound of a voice.
I started to sing in choirs in church, and when I first heard a jazz record, it was paul desmond's "take five", I felt like being struck by lightning...
I studied with saxophone player and musicology professor ekkehard jost in gießen. already in the first lecture the music made me almost fall off the chair, when he started playing a piece by duke ellington.
just to name a few vocalists who impress me: billie holiday, ella fitzgerald, carmen mcrae, shirley horn, mark murphy, andy bey, dianne reeves, dee dee bridgewater, patricia barber....
my love for this music grew so strong, that I took jazz singing lessons. later I went to the netherlands to study jazz at the prins claus conservatory in groningen.
