my influences were classical and also popular music. then jazz became a major inspiration.
I studied and/or listened a lot to gregorian chants, early polyphonic music, j. s. bach, claude debussy, béla bartók, leoš janáček, olivier messiaen, arvo pärt, györgy ligeti, alfred schnittke, steve reich, philip glass, paul giger, chet baker, jim hall, paul desmond, bill evans, charlie parker, dizzy gillespie, miles davis, ahmad jamal, keith jarrett, lee morgan, oliver nelson, john mc laughlin, albert mangelsdorff, tomasz stanko, simple acoustic trio... [among many many others!]
in a composition my aim is to get as close as possible to the essence of a subject. for me that means diving into the depth of something, staying there for a while and then bringing up the things I found there.
